Call for European Probation Workers: Join Our Research Focus Group!
For an ongoing CEP project on the role of research in the future of European probation, led by Prof. Fergus McNeill at the University of Glasgow, we are seeking to recruit frontline practitioners to participate in an online focus group on that topic. This will be conducted in English.
Information about participants will be confidential to the research team. At present, we have volunteers to participate from Germany, France, Italy, and Romania. We’re keen to expand this to include probation workers from other European countries, including Ireland and the UK jurisdictions, Scandinavia, the Baltic states, the Low Countries, Central and Eastern Europe, and Spain and Portugal. Recap: Expert Group meeting on Violent Extremism

On 12–13 March 2026, the Expert Group on Violent Extremism convened for an in‑person meeting in Bucharest, Romania. Hosted at the University of Bucharest, the meeting brought together practitioners and representatives from across Europe to finalise the overview of best practices for preventive interventions targeting juveniles and young adults up to the age of 26 under probation. Building on the extensive discussions and progress made in 2025, the group worked collaboratively to bring the document to completion.
