Recap: Opening Doors to Second Chances: The Mission and Impact of Yellow Ribbon Run

On Thursday 19 March, CEP hosted the second webinar of 2026 on the topic of Alternatives to Detention. The session led by Dr. Gabriela Slovakova from the Czech Probation and Mediation Service titled „Opening Doors to Second Chances: The Mission and Impact of Yellow Ribbon Run“ introduced the Yellow Ribbon project with a powerful message of second chances and fair opportunities.

Attended by more than 30 participants from across Europe and world, it aimed to introduce its mission centered on social responsibility, support for reintegration, and cooperation with organizations that helped people with a criminal past return to everyday life. The project highlighted why the initiative came to life and the values it represented, building on the core principles of destigmatising ex‑offenders, their families, and their children, grounded in restorative justice.

The next edition of the Yellow Ribbon Run will take place on 11 June 2026 in Prague. This years theme is “Giving a second chance to children and young people who did mistake.
