Deadline extented | Call for posters for the CEP 13th Electronic Monitoring conference
We are inviting submissions for posters at the CEP 13th Electronic Monitoring Conference 2024.
A poster is a single-page document, typically combining text and images, that embodies a succinct description of work which has been, or is being, done.
The aim of the call is to enable delegates to showcase research, developments, and new projects related to electronic monitoring at the conference. Topics of interest may include, but are not limited to:
- Current research projects
- Research findings from completed projects
- New developments and/or innovative projects
- Implementation of new technologies, policies or practices
The submission process
The call for posters is open to anyone planning to attend the CEP EM conference, with the exception of companies or individuals already involved, or planning to be involved, in the delivery of EM technologies or services.
The title of the poster, an abstract of 100 words detailing the topic and content of the proposed poster and why it will be of interest to conference delegates, and the names, affiliation and short biography (max. 50 words) of all the authors must be submitted to secr@cep-probation.org. The results of the selection process will be communicated to all applicants by 25th October.
Authors of accepted abstracts are expected to design and print their own posters, as well as to exhibit them during the three days of the conference. They will be required to be present at their poster at a designated time during the conference (Wednesday at the morning refreshment break and at lunchtime). Posters must be A1 (portrait) and written in English. Posters must include the contact details of at least one of the authors.
Posters are not allowed to refer to any private companies or individuals involved in the provision of EM technologies or services or their products. Any posters including information of this nature are not permitted and will not be displayed.

The use of community sanctions and measures that allow individuals to remain in the community – also known as alternatives to imprisonment – continues to grow overall in Europe, although at a moderate pace, according to the latest Council of Europe annual penal statistics on persons under the supervision of probation agencies (2025 SPACE II survey).

Victims rights
Adoption of the revised Victims’ Rights Directive and call for evidence on EU strategy on victims’ rights

The Council of the European Union has formally approved a new directive strengthening the rights of victims of crime across the EU. The updated law improves access to information, support, and protection by introducing an EU-wide victim support helpline (116 006), making it easier to report crimes through digital tools, strengthening safeguards for victims’ personal data, expanding child-friendly support services, improving access to legal aid, and helping ensure that victims receive compensation more quickly.
This directive updates the 2012 EU Victims’ Rights Directive and aims to ensure that victims receive more consistent and effective support across all Member States. Following its publication in the Official Journal, Member States will have 24 months to transpose the new rules into national law.
