CEP visit to Centre for Legal Studies

On 10th February 2025, CEP Secretary General Jana Å pero Kamenjarin paid a visit to the Director General for Community Sanctions and Measures of Catalonia, JesĂºs MarĂa del Cacho Rivera, at the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialised Training (CEJFE) in Barcelona, representing the Department of Justice and Democratic Quality of Catalonia.

The visit was linked to the meeting of the CEP Presidium, providing an opportunity to further strengthen institutional dialogue and cooperation between CEP and the Catalan Ministry of Justice.

The meeting was marked by a very fluent and constructive exchange, clearly reflecting the strong and well-established relationship between the two organisations. Discussions focused on shared priorities in the field of probation, community sanctions, and training, as well as on ongoing and future collaboration at European level.

CEP President Annie Devos and CEP Vice-Presidents Marta Ferrer and Iuliana Cărbunaru were also present at the meeting, underlining the strategic importance of the visit.

During the meeting, the Catalan Ministry of Justice reaffirmed its strong commitment to continued and positive cooperation with CEP. This included the willingness to continue the secondment of Ministry of Justice professional Anna EsquerrĂ  Roqueta in her role as CEP Policy and Liaison Officer, as well as expressing its willingness to offer CEJFE as a hosting venue for any future CEP activities and events.

Furthermore, the importance of active participation in CEP governance was highlighted, and the Director General expressed his willingness to attend the CEP General Assembly to be held in Vienna in October 2025.

Both CEP and the Catalan authorities expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration and their shared ambition to further develop joint initiatives in the years to come.
