CEP member visit to Malta Probation and Parole Service
On 3rd February 2025, CEP Secretary General Jana Spero Kamenjarin and CEP Board Member Daniel Danglades had the privilege of visiting the CEP member organization, Malta Probation and Parole Service.
This was the first member visit of the year. Ms. Carmen Borg, Director of the Malta Probation and Parole Service, welcomed CEP warmly. The visit included an excellent meeting with Director Borg and the opportunity to meet all probation staff.
Representatives of Malta are very active in CEP Expert Groups and regularly participate in CEP activities. During the visit, CEP representatives highlighted various activities and the annual plan for 2025, inviting colleagues from Malta to attend both in-person and online events.
CEP members also had the opportunity to learn more about the Malta Probation and Parole Service through articles published on the CEP website, such as A Day in the Life of a Probation Officer from Malta during COVID-19.
Both CEP and Malta expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to future collaboration.

Recap: CEP Expert Group on Mental Health in Probation Meets

On 8–9 April 2026, the Expert Group on Mental Health in Probation convened in Dublin, Ireland, hosted by the Irish Probation Service. The meeting brought together 7 expert members from 7 European jurisdictions, Portugal, Ireland, Türkiye, Germany, Poland, Northern Ireland, England and Spain (Catalonia), alongside distinguished external speakers from international and academic institutions.
Chaired by Ana Cristina Neves, Head of Service at the Directorate-General of Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP), Portugal, the meeting provided a focused and collaborative space to reflect on the group’s progress, consolidate key outputs, and define strategic priorities for the upcoming 2026–2028 mandate.
