New EU Judicial Training Strategy 2025-2030 adopted
New updates from the European Commission highlight key priorities for judicial training in Europe, alongside new tools supporting transparency and access to data.
The European Commission has adopted the new Judicial Training Strategy 2025 to 2030 as part of the Digital Justice Package. The strategy is available in all EU languages and will guide judicial training in the coming years.
The strategy places a strong focus on digitalisation, supporting skills for the use of digital tools in justice systems, knowledge of EU and national law adapted to the digital economy and society, and awareness of the digitalisation of justice. Training will play a key role in strengthening IT and AI literacy of justice professionals.
The new strategy is based on the conclusions of the Commission Staff Working Document: Stock-taking of the results of judicial training 2021 – 2024.
At the same time, a new online dashboard with data from 2024 on judicial training in Europe has been launched, replacing the former annual PDF report. For more information on both, please visit About the Platform | European Training Platform.
Also, SAVE THE DATE for the European Judicial Training Conference on 26 and 27 February 2026 in Nicosiaa, Cyprus, which will focus on implementing the new approach and clarifying the role of national and European training providers.

EuroPris has published a new report titled From Challenges to Solutions: Mapping European Strategies on Prison Overcrowding. The report provides an overview of how prison administrations across Europe are addressing prison overcrowding and their responses to it.
The mapping exercise was conducted between April and September 2025. It is based on structured survey responses from 33 national and regional prison administrations, representing approximately 80% of EuroPris members. The findings are complemented by expert interviews and institutional input.
