Yellow Ribbon Run in Croatia and Singapore

Following the successful CEP Workshop on Working with Communities and Awareness Raising in Probation on 10-11 June in Prague, where the 9th Yellow Ribbon Run was celebrated, the first-ever Yellow Ribbon Run in Croatia took place on 20 September 2024, building further on the mission to support reintegration and raise awareness for those with a criminal past.

On 20 September 2024, the Yellow Ribbon Run was organized for the first time in the Republic of Croatia by the Croatian Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, Directorate for Prison System and Probation, with funding from the Norway Grants.

The event took place in Gospić, Croatia, bringing together more than 120 participants, including former and current prisoners, the Croatian Minister of Justice Mr. Damir Habijan, judicial police officers, probation officers, court officials, Ministry of Justice representatives, the Deputy Norwegian Ambassador, the Lika-Senj Prefect, representatives from Norway, the Yellow Ribbon Run – Czech Republic, and CEP Secretary General Jana Špero Kamenjarin.

The primary goal of the race was to support the reintegration of individuals with a criminal past into society, promote inclusivity, challenge stereotypes and prejudices, raise awareness about the importance of rehabilitation, and highlight the essential work of the prison system.

CEP Ambassador Mr. Steve Pitts took part in Yellow Ribbon Run in Singapore, marking the 20th anniversary of the YRR. The jubilee run in Singapore gathered 11000 participants.
