On Wednesday 29 November, a final conference for the HOPE project took place in Lisbon, Portugal. The HOPE project – Holistic Radicalisation Prevention Initiative – aimed to improve the transition from prison or probation to the community for those at risk of radicalisation or who have already been radicalised.

The project was implemented in Portugal, Spain, Norway, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania. Its network comprised prison and probation services, community organisations, criminal Justice training providers and research centres.

The final conference, among others, discussed the perspectives and challenges in the Balkan, Southern, and Eastern European region, training modules, the HOPE Mentoring Scheme, and its broadening network. The Council of Europe introduced its P/CVE initiative in the Western Balkans’ prison services.
