Expert groups meeting on Domestic Violence and Sex Offenders

On 28th November 2023, CEP organised the meeting of the two Expert Groups on Domestic Violence and Sex Offenders at the Centre for Legal Studies and Judicial Training in Barcelona, Catalonia – Spain.

This was a crucial meeting aimed at presenting the work done by these two groups upon until now. Discussing the configuration of the new expert group that will bring the two groups together under the name Gender-based Violence in Probation and to examine, discuss and agree on the plan and direction for the coming 2 years.

13 experts from ten European jurisdictions participated in the expert meeting of the domestic violence and sex offenders expert groups.

Presentations

Presentations at this meeting were  focused on a summary of the work done by the two Expert Groups until now:

Professor Kieran McCartan – Professor at UWE Bristol University, Chair of the Sex Offenders Expert Group.

Ms Sarah Henfrey – Chartered & Registered Practitioner Forensic Psychologist – Strategy, Planning & Performance Directorate, HMPPS, former Chair of the Domestic Violence expert group.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls

Today, 25 November, marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. It is a global reminder, recognised by UNESCO and the wider international community, of the urgent need to prevent violence, support those affected by it, and strengthen collective action. The day also opens the 16 Days of Activism, a worldwide campaign that calls for sustained engagement to end all forms of violence against women and girls.
