Practitioner guidance for supporting neurodivergent clients in domestic abuse work

A new practitioner guide is currently being piloted across the UK that aims to support professionals working with neurodivergent clients for more inclusive domestic abuse perpetrator interventions. The guide has been co developed for domestic abuse perpetrator intervention practitioners who work with neurodivergent clients, translating research findings into practical guidance for day to day practice.

The guide has been developed in collaboration with Community Justice Scotland, Probation North East and Respect, and has been informed by consultation with neurodivergent led organisations. Its focus is on supporting practitioners to understand better and respond to the needs of neurodivergent people within justice and related services.

Following the current pilot phase, the guide will be revised and officially launched on April 24th 2026, through a hybrid event. This event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the project, its development process, and how the guide can be applied in practice.

Registration is now open to attend the launch online, and further information about the project and the guide is available on the project website.
