Applications for the Cambridge MSt in Applied Criminology, Penology and Management are now open

This two-year, part-time programme is aimed at senior professionals in criminal justice. It welcomes professionals from probation and community justice, the voluntary and third sectors, the legal community, and allied professions such as psychologists and psychiatrists. Previous formal education is not a requisite for applying.

The MSt equips its students with the most up-to-date international criminological theory and research, along with key methodological skills. Students are introduced to the core concepts in criminal justice, which are explored ‘in context’ to provoke reflection on the most urgent current challenges in their field. It encourages students to think differently, historically, comparatively around criminal justice theory, policy and practice.

Applications for the Penology MSt are open until 15 December 2026. Potential applicants can learn more, including funding opportunities, on the Institute of Criminology’s website.

They have a tradition of working with employers to sponsor employees to do the course and would be open to discussions about similar arrangements with probation organisations from across Europe.
