Ian Barrow
Ian is an Executive Director in His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service. He is currently responsible for the delivery of prisons and probation services in Wales, as well as being the lead for Community Accommodation Services for England and Wales, including the provision of Approved Premises.
Ian has worked in the Probation arena for over thirty years in a career that has included Offender Management, MAPPA, Commissioning and Business Development and a range of senior management roles. Ian was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Wales Probation Trust. Prior to his current role, Ian was the lead for the Probation Workforce Programme that successfully recruited over 4,500 trainee Probation Officers, introduced the Competency Based Framework and initiated the work on Professional Registration in England and Wales. Ian also leads on pay and reward engagement with the recognised Trade Unions for England and Wales.
In October 2025 Ian was elected the CEP Board member.
