Recap: Webinar on Violent Extremism and Assessment
On Thursday 22 May 2025 CEP held its second webinar in the short series organized since 2024. This time on the topic of violent extremism and assessment.
The webinar presented on Finland’s approach to assessing and addressing violent extremism among offenders. Finland has recently faced an increase in convictions and detentions with the violent far-right extremism being the most prevalent ideology. Jouni Holappa, a senior specialist within the Prison and Probation Service of Finland, detailed the country’s multi-agency prevention strategies, risk assessment tools, and intervention programs, while highlighting challenges such as resource limitations and working with clients who have mental health issues.

Looking for reliable criminological literature? KrimDok is a free online database developed by the University of Tübingen and supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The database contains nearly 400,000 references to books, journal articles, reports, and other publications covering criminology and related fields such as criminal justice, psychology, sociology, education, and law. It draws on a specialist criminology library established in 1969, with a collection of around 150,000 titles, and includes indexed articles from more than 200 academic journals.
