Fourth CEP webinar on Gender-Based Violence

How can probation services support engagement in treatment, raise awareness of gender-based violence and prevent staff burnout?

Join CEP on Thursday, 19 November 2026, from 14:00 to 14:50 CET, for the fourth webinar in the CEP Webinar Series 2026. The session will present the outputs of the CEP Expert Group on Gender-Based Violence in Probation, bringing together perspectives from across Europe.

Following a welcome from CEP Secretary General Jana Špero Kamenjarin, the group’s Chair, Professor Kieran McCartan, will introduce its work across three key areas:

  • Understanding motivation and supporting engagement in treatment, presented by Carmel Donnelly from the Irish Probation Service.
  • Increasing public knowledge and awareness of gender-based violence, presented by Endika Biota from the Basque Justice Department and Mary Anne Zammit from the Malta Probation Service.
  • Preventing burnout among staff working with people who have committed gender-based violence, including senior leaders, managers and frontline probation officers, presented by Kieran McCartan and Olja Ristova, judge and lecturer at the Academy for Education of Judges in North Macedonia.

The webinar will include a Q&A session moderated by Anna Esquerrà Roqueta, CEP Policy and Liaison Officer, offering participants an opportunity to ask questions and exchange perspectives.

We welcome probation professionals, managers, researchers and others interested in preventing gender-based violence and supporting effective practice.
