Marta Ferrer began her work experience as an educator in a detention centre for young offenders in 1983. For 17 years, she worked in connection with the juvenile justice field, always in the Department of Justice of Catalonia (Spain). From 2000 to 2018, she was Head of the Department of Social and Criminological Research and Training in the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialized Training. She was in charge of organising initial and further training for staff working in the field of victim support as well as in prisons, community sanctions, restorative justice and in the juvenile justice system. She participated and supervised researches in these fields.
Currently, she has been the Deputy Director of Restoration and Probation. She is in charge of probation, restorative justice and victim support in Catalonia.
During her career, she has participated in different European projects and from 2006-2011 she was member of a specialised committee of the Council of Europe (PC-CP). She also has been member of the board of different European organisations (European Forum for Restorative Justice, European Prison Training Academies).
From 2016 up till October 2022 she was a Board Member of the Confederation of European Probation (CEP). In October 2022 she was elected the CEP Vice-President.
