Unfortunately it with great regret that in light of current circumstances regarding the Covid-19 outbreak we have no option but to postpone the Correctional Research Symposium (CRS2020) which was to be held in Porto, Portugal, 12-14 May 2020. The new dates are 3-4 March 2021.
What you should do next
If you have already booked your flight for Porto please do check with your airline as to which arrangements they will have for refunding or rescheduling your ticket.
For accommodation at the main venue, the Holiday Inn, their cancellation policy states that you can cancel your room 48 hours in advance of the stay without penalty. We advise that you make this cancellation as soon as possible. Note that all accommodation bookings are made individually and the organisers (ICPA/CEP/EuroPris) are not able to make these cancellations on your behalf. Of course should you have made accommodation arrangements elsewhere you should check with the provider directly for making the cancellation.
A lot of work has gone into creating a fantastic programme for this conference and as such our aim will be to reconvene this conference on a more suitable date. It is too early at this stage to identify our next window of opportunity but please be assured that we will notify you as soon as we are able.
Therefore, registrations already made for the event will remain on our system and are still valid for the event in 2021. Should the new date be unsuitable for you it will still be possible to cancel your registration. We would like to minimise the financial impact of this postponement on our organisations, and by refunding tickets now, only to rebook later, would incur unnecessary transaction fees. If you still have the intention of being a part of the CRS2020 conference we advise that no further action is needed at this time with regards to your registration. However, if you do wish to cancel your registration you may request this in reply to this email or by contacting our team.
We are truly grateful for the support of all participants, speakers, our event sponsors and our hosts at the Directorate-General of Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRPS). This is a difficult time for everyone and we seek your understanding that this decision to postpone the event is the most sensible course of action for now.
