CEP takes networking to the next level: Newsletter circulation and social media

Publication date: 30-11-2011

Article:

Social mediaThe website of CEP is no doubt familiar to you. But CEP is reaching out in other ways through the internet as well. The CEP Newsletter has been a successful medium since 2007. In 2011 CEP has entered the arena of the so-called ‘social media', sharing news through networking websites. Where can you find the newsletter and CEP social media profiles?

Newsletter: spread the word
The CEP Newsletter features articles on CEP-related topics and the additional Miscellaneous News section with news from inside and outside the CEP network. Every two months, the Newsletter is sent in English, French or both to approximately 1,300 subscribers. The subscribers' list is growing steadily. A few member organisations have recognised the value of the newsletter for their whole organisation and are able to forward it to employees in the field. The French Ministry of Justice, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården) as well as the Norwegian (Kriminalomsorgen) and the British National Offender Management Service (NOMS) all disseminate the Newsletter through their intranets. The CEP Office is interested to know if national recipients of the CEP Newsletter can help to increase its reach within their own organisation. If you have information or know the contact person who can arrange this, please inform the CEP Communication Officer [mailto:communication@cep-probation.org].

CEP's presence in the social media
Organisations and companies have established themselves in recent years in the social media space to connect to the public. CEP also created profiles on several different websites to increase the visibility of the organisation on the internet. The home page depicts two Twitter feeds. The @CEP_comm feed lists all additions to the CEP website and @CEP_prob features news from the probation field. Pages have also been created on LinkedIn, Google+ and Facebook, providing extra opportunities to network and follow the news. The pages are being updated regularly so feel free to follow these pages or suggest interesting items through them.

Contributions
The CEP website has a great deal to offer, as you can see by reviewing the Website guide; news items, the Forum, the Knowledge base, information on the Register of Experts and on CEP-related projects. The CEP Office receives a great deal of information but also relies on its readers to provide news, interesting documents or notifications of events, publications or funding. All members are therefore strongly encouraged to contribute. CEP Communication Officer Daria Janssen welcomes information on, for example, events or good practices in Europe.
